Unit 1D Homes – Structures
We developed our understanding of structures. We observed different types of building which gave us the experience and information to draw on when we developed our own ideas. We developed and modelled our ideas by creating static models from sheet and reclaimed materials and construction kits. We gained a basic understanding about structures and how they can be made stronger and more stable.
We constructed model homes, incorporating the main features of windows and doors, which shows evidence of understanding different types of buildings and their main features. |

Unit 2 What were homes like a long time ago?
We looked at similarities and differences between homes today and homes in the past. We looked at the features of buildings, household objects and stories about home life. This enabled us to develop criteria to distinguish old from new, and to learn about life at a time beyond living memory.
We identified features of homes today and at a time before living memory; we have recognised household objects from the past and present; we have learnt about how the objects were used and which room they belonged in; we have handled, observed and drawn the objects in order to find out about them; we have used appropriate language when talking, writing and role playing. |
